What do you want to give to the world as a performer? What are you yearning to say? How can you align your art and your life?

“At Naropa we are exploding the definition of theater.” ~ Lorenzo Gonzalez

These are some of the questions we’ll help you answer. Performing Arts at Naropa will open your mind, heart, and body to the possibilities of contemporary performance—and the vistas of creativity in your soul.

Develop your skills as a performing artist through the intensive study of contemporary dance, theatre, and vocal work. Delve into the furthest reaches of yourself through space awareness and contemplative practice. See how you can develop your artistic voice as a vehicle for social change. You will become a more complex and aware performer as you acquire a deeper understanding of the human experience and yourself.

Naropa Performance majors go on to pursue graduate studies in theatre, dance, and voice, as well as perform at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, teach theater to children in India, develop performances about social issues as well as become musical recording artists, teachers, professional actors, theater teachers, and theater company impresarios.

Naropa's Performance program is currently being redesigned.

You can still minor in Performance, incorporate Performance into your Interdisciplinary Studies major, or take Performing Arts classes now. Learn more:

Student Highlight

“I decided Naropa was right for me when I found out that a main principle in all teachings here revolve around the body-mind synchronization. As a artist, particularly as a performer, that is the essence of presence and connection for me, when I am on and offstage.”

— Camille Nattans
